Privacy Policy

Effective 9 September 2026 · Kyimolung for iPhone, iPad and Mac

The short version. Kyimolung has no accounts, no servers and no analytics. We do not collect, store or sell any personal information. The data the app works with — your heart rate, steps, location, listening habits and settings — is processed on your device, and the few preferences that sync between your devices travel through your own iCloud account, where we cannot see them.

Who we are

Kyimolung is made by Mobility Arts (Mengmeng Zhang), an independent developer based in Victoria, Australia. Questions about this policy: hello@kyimolung.app.

What we collect

Nothing. Kyimolung does not transmit any data to us or to any third-party service on our behalf. The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software, and it does not ask you to create an account. This is also what we declare on the App Store product page ("Data Not Collected").

Data the app uses on your device

Each of these is optional and controlled by a system permission you can grant, refuse or revoke at any time. The app works fully without them, on gentle simulated values.

DataWhyWhere it goes
Heart rate and step count (Apple Health)To adapt the tempo and character of the sound to your body in real time.Read on your device only. Never written to Health, never stored by the app beyond the current session, never leaves the device.
Step cadence (motion sensors)To match the rhythm of the Move soundscape to your pace.Read on your device only; not stored.
Location (while using the app)To fetch local weather and daylight so the soundscape can follow the time of day.Your approximate location is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to retrieve the forecast. Apple's privacy policy governs that request. We never receive your location.
Listening time and streaksTo show your focus streak and weekly minutes, and to unlock premium content by use.Stored on your device only.
Screen Time app selectionIf you turn on the focus shield, the apps you choose are blocked during a listening session.Managed by Apple's Family Controls framework on your device. Your selection is opaque to the app: we cannot see which apps you chose.
Notifications and alarmsStreak reminders and the optional wake-up alarm.Scheduled locally on your device.

iCloud sync

If your device is signed in to iCloud, four preferences sync between your devices through Apple's iCloud key-value storage: your favorite soundscapes, your saved mixes, the mix that loads at launch, and the adaptive-audio setting. This data lives in your own iCloud account under Apple's terms; we have no access to it. Listening statistics, alarms and display settings do not sync. You can stop the sync by turning off iCloud for Kyimolung in your device's iCloud settings, and remove the stored values from iCloud storage management.

Purchases

Kyimolung Premium (an annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase) is sold and processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple provides the app with a signed, anonymous record of your purchase so it can unlock premium features and let you restore them on your other devices.

Widgets

The home-screen widget reads your streak and now-playing state from a storage area shared between the app and the widget on your device. Nothing is transmitted.

Children

Kyimolung is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone — children included — because the app collects no information at all.

Your choices and rights

Where privacy laws such as the Australian Privacy Act, the GDPR or the CCPA grant you rights over personal information, those rights apply, and you can exercise them through the contact above.

Health data

Health data is never used for advertising, never shared, never sold, and never used for any purpose other than adapting the sound while you listen — in line with Apple's HealthKit requirements.

Changes

If the app ever starts collecting data, this policy and the App Store listing will be updated before that version ships, with a new effective date at the top of this page.
